Preserving common smooth hounds (Mustelus mustelus) at the Natural History Museum in London.

Here, specimen have previously been defrosted and placed in a solution of formalin for several days. This fixative is absorbed into the body cavity of the specimen, preventing the contents from spoiling. The curator takes the specimens out of the solution and washes out the formalin thoroughly. He labels them with the names of the species and the collector. He then places them into a tank of 70% ethyl alcohol for preservation.

Now, anyone interested in this species can visit the museum and observe them in person.
