SHARKCHIVES
Preserving common smooth hounds (Mustelus mustelus) at the Natural History Museum in London. Specimens are placed in a solution of formalin for several days, preventing the body contents from spoiling. The curator takes the specimens out of the fixative and washes them thoroughly. He labels them with the names of the species and the collector, then placing them into a tank of 70% ethyl alcohol for preservation.
